If there is a perception discrimination by Jatts against non-Jatts, surely that cannot be restricted to Sainis only. It would apply equally to Kamboh, Mahton, Khatri/Arora and other Sikh communities as well.
We don’t see any other communities wanting to ally with Malis or similar castes outside Punjab. Why this questionable recipe is being offered to Sainis only when there is a clear proof that Malis have used such opportunties to undermine our identity in the past?
Few facts again:
1) Mali is not considered a high caste anywhere in India. It is a caste with low social status. That is why they use every opportunity to get rid of this label.
2) The Baghban community of UP is totally different from Sainis of Punjab. They do not link their identity with Shoorsainis. They link themselves with Bhagirath. They are also called Bhagirathis for this reason apart from being falled “Golas” (not Gwalas…no matter what spin is put on the word Gola). They have no similarity with Saini community of Punjab except for a coincidental similarity of name which appears to be purely incidental and can apply to many other castes. No intermarriages were recorded between both the communities and their culture and social standing is also different.
Again , the following question was never answered:
If Mali is considered such a dignified word, why did these Malis try to get rid of this identity in 1931 by having their names changed to Saini in official records? Why should Sainis embrace an identity which Malis themselves are desperate to get rid of?
Truth is that this Mr. Pamma is a Mali himself (posing as a Sikh Saini) and cannot answer this question. He is trying to dodge answer by setting Sainis against Jatts now.
Again, its highly questionable how allying with a non-Punjabi and non-Saini caste like Malis will bring any benefit in Punjab where majority of Sainis live. Malis are not part of any voting bloc in Punjab.
If somebody is keen on playing electoral politicis , then the castes to ally with would be local Sikh castes of Punjab like Mahtons, Kambohs, Khatri/Arora Sikhs, etc.
Lastly, it is wrong to generalize like this about Jatt community, There are a few bad apples in every community, including our own. To paint the entire community bad is plain wrong. I have several times in my lifetime helped by Jatt Sikhs who have sometimes gone out the way to do it.
Sainis are sitting on key positions even in Jatt dominated Punjab. Punjab’s DGP -Vigilance is a Saini. Punjab’s Chief Architect is a Saini….Sardar HS Pabla is Additional Secretary of Punjab. I could go on with such examples from past and present…
In the past Jathedar of Akal Takth, Sadhu Singh Bhaura was a Saini. Sainis like Babu Labh Singh have led Akali Dal. Punjab’s most powerful media group, The Ajit, is owned and controlled by Sainis.
In electricity board, universities and government offices in Punjab, there are thousands of Sainis holding key positions.
What are we complaining about here!
I think we are just fine. Please stop ranting against Jatts. We get along just fine with them. It is not their fault that they happen to be a majority community in Punjab. Lets just depend on our hard work and good moral character for success.
